Medical Students Daniela Rebollo Salazar and Natalie Rodriguez Recipients of 2019 Haile T. Debas Diversity Fellowship

Daniela Rebollo Salazar and Natalie Rodriguez were selected as recipients of the 2019 Haile T. Debas Diversity Fellowship. Daniela, a 4th year medical student from New York University School of Medicine, took an elective course in Advanced General Surgery - Colorectal at UCSF in September. Natalie is a 4th year medical student from the University of Illinois - Chicago and took an elective course in Advanced General Surgery - Red at UCSF in October.
The Haile T. Debas Diversity Fellowship, established in 2017, supports the goal of increasing the number of under-represented minority surgeons in academic surgery. The Fellowship, for visiting medical students only, provides a stipend of $2500.00 to defray the cost of tuition, transportation, housing, and incidental expenses. Recipients of the fellowship award are selected based on academic career potential.
